My First Crop of 2011

My tomato plants are huge, but the fruit production is pathetic. They are also supposed to be huge tomatoes - the tags say fruit size of OVER A POUND per tomato. At least our bells and jalapenos are doing well. Its salsa time!

Wrapping Up the School Year

School's about out. I have really enjoyed my class of 14 two-year olds this year, but will certainly enjoy a few days of quiet! I have also been working around the clock on a project for the Training Center the past few weeks. It is about done as well, so I have a feeling I am going to go from crazy stressed to bored out of my mind very quickly.

Miss Foster sent me these two pictures of William and his classmates. He has really enjoyed his first year at Dean Rd.

Baseball Season

It is shocking to me how much I am enjoying baseball season. I just can't express how terrible t-ball was, but baseball is actually really fun. The Orioles have only won one (or two?) games, but they continue to improve. William consistently gets at least one hit in every game. They are usually singles, but with the inevitable overthrow at first, he can usually make it to second base. He hasn't had too much luck with the people behind him being able to bring him in, though. Here is one of he few times he actually made it home.

Eastern Bluebird Nest

We have a cute couple moving in to the house Jud and William made a few years ago.
 Update! There are 5 eggs!!

Orioles

William got to play baseball this year! It is SO much better than T-Ball. He was on the Orioles and his coach was an old friend of ours Nicole Carter. The team was really young and their improvement throughout the season was impressive.

Harvest Medical School

For our lesson on Medical Professionals, one of our awesome parents - a nurse - brought in lots of stuff for us to dress up and play with. Wouldn't our class make great doctors?

Isabel's Birthday

William went to Isabel's birthday party at a Horse riding stable. William and Isabel became friends when they were 2 years old, but they went to different 4 year old preschool classes and kindergartens, so they haven't done much together for the past few years. Fortunately they are back in the same school again and are in the same first grade class this year.

Herding Cats

Our Valentine party has been the first day that all 14 of my kids have been in school on the same day so we tried to get a class picture. Easier said than done.

The Truth Of The Matter

"Ice Storm" is Auburn's excuse for cancelling school for two days. The real reason is Auburn University played in the National Championship football game and the Board of Education knew there would be a lot of children who didn't get enough sleep. It is much better to have the parents deal with the cranky children than make the teachers have a class full of them. Fine with me, though! We went to Toomer's Corner right after the game, but it was so crowded we couldn't get any pictures. The next day there were so many almost full rolls of toilet paper laying around that we were able to throw some more for our "photo-op". War Eagle!!

 Today's Date? Won/ won won / won won (1/11/11)!

Ice Storm Warning!

You would think it is expected to be the storm of the century. Schools are closed for two additional days and the store shelves are completely empty of batteries, bread and milk. I ran to Publix to stock up on our essentials... I have my chips and coke. Bring on the storm.

This is the extent of what we got...and it was gone by 10 am.
