Zeta Xi Turns 30

The Auburn Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta turns 30 this year. It was also the 15 year reunion for my pledge class and it had been probably since graduation since I had seen the majority of my pledge sisters, so it was a nice time to get together.

First Lost Tooth!

William lost his first tooth yesterday! Gone are the days where the Tooth Fairy leaves a quarter, though. We know some kids who got $5 or even $10 for their first tooth and then $1 for each other tooth. Our Tooth Fairy is "cheap". He is getting $1 for every tooth.

Another kind of new room

I have been hired on as a daily teacher at Harvest Preschool! Up until now I have been a substitute teacher and usually worked at least one day a week (usually more). I originally wanted to teach the Fours class, or possibly the Threes, but there was an opening in the Twos class. The desire for a set schedule outweighed my desire for older children (and somewhat justified my acceptance for diaper-changing). It has been so much fun working with these 2/3 year old children. Here is my room.

New Room

When William was born a room theme was easy - teddy bears. Because my sorority mascot was the teddy bear, I had a lot of bears I needed somewhere to put and there was really cute Blue Jean Teddy pattern readily available at all baby stores. When he outgrew that, though, things got hard. There really wasn't anything that defined him. My nephews were easy - one was (is) crazy about trucks and the other balls. When we first moved in my neighbor was obsessed with the Wiggles, but there wasn't anything William liked that much. I went with construction trucks, something he never had much interest in, but I found a cute bedspread and accessories were easy to find. Finally, this Christmas William developed an interest in space. Perfect for a new "big boy" room. It is still lacking some wall decoration, but it is a huge improvement over the construction trucks!
